With a mission to help create safe and beautiful birth experiences, Nubian Natal strives to provide immeasurable information, resources and support to Mothers, partners and families during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period, often referred to as the Fourth Trimester. Nubian Natal Care knows that having a Doula is not a luxury, it is a necessity.

Thyais has enjoyed advocating for and supporting birthing families in and around Charlotte, North Carolina since 2015 with experience in both medicated and unmedicated, cesarean, twin, VBAC, single parent, teen births and many others.
As an evidence-based and community-based birth worker, wife and mother of many with her own personal birthing experiences, life has aligned Thyais with her God-source spark in the birth work community. She adores holding space and helping provide the information, education, and support that all families deserve to ensure that their birthing experiences are both wise and enjoyable. Thyais holds a delicate place within her being and birth work for Black Maternal Health and Birthing Justice.
Thyais has an educational and professional background in child development, healthcare and healthcare advocacy. Thyais has trained as a Certified Holistic Birth Doula through W.I.S.E Community Doulas with experience in many complementary healthcare modalities including nursing, medical billing, nutrition, aromatherapy, reiki and other natural comfort measures.
Thyais owns and operates Nubian Natal Services, LLC in which she provides Birth Work and Doula Support. She is also the creator of The Black Birth Blueprint® in which she advocates and holds educational seminars and roundtable talks to provide insight on what Black Birth Experience and Birth Justice should look and feel like for Black and Brown Families in Modern Medicine.

What is a Doula? A trained non-medical support professional who provides expert guidance and support during pregnancy and childbirth related events
Why do I need a Doula if I already have family support and my doctor or midwife? Doulas provide you AND your family with emotional, informational, and physical support during pregnancy, childbirth and the immediate postpartum period. Doulas can significantly improve your entire birth experience!
What are the benefits of having a Doula? Shorter labor, better birth outcomes, reduction in cesarean rate, reduction in epidural request, reduction in Pitocin use and induction rate, reduction in forcep or other potentially unsafe intervention and helps transition into your new family dynamic.
Can I or should I have a Doula if I am not having a natural or vaginal childbirth? Absolutely! Nubian offers services for all births and there a many benefits to having a Doula for a cesarean birth.
What if I cannot afford to hire a Doula? Nubian Natal knows how important and beneficial it is for EVERY family to have a Doula and will work with each birthing person on an individual or collective level to ensure that services can be provided in the most affordable way possible. Please contact Nubian if you have concerns surrounding your ability to afford services or care. There may be resources available to help!
Are Doula Services covered by Insurance or Medicaid? In North Carolina, Doulas and Doula Services are not currently covered by Medicaid. Some individual or private insurance plans may cover or reimburse the cost of Doula Services. Please check with your insurance provider. NOTE: Some insurance companies may request a letter of Medical Necessity from your provider for Doula Services.
